Panoramic TMS poster

Hi, folks.

If you haven't been following the MWII thread on Miata.net, you may be unaware that I'm putting together a poster of a panoramic montage of the cars on the TMS oval. This is very different from the official angle, and without wanting to sound big-headed, I reckon it looks great!

You can see the final draft here.

The prints will be on quality photographic paper, and measure four feet wide by four inches tall. Unfortunately the anticipated small print run has resulted in the cost being slightly higher than I had hoped, but the final price should be between $20 and $25 including p&p within the continental US (may be a couple of bucks more to Canada). The final price will depend on the number ordered, as the unit cost comes down as the size of the print run increases.

Those prices allow for the barest of profit margins which would go to the MWII designated charities - I would like to have included a bigger margin for charity, but initial responses suggested that even these prices may be pushing it, so I'm wary of asking any more.

What I need now is a show of hands. Please let me know ASAP, either in this thread or by PM, if you would be willing to buy one for $25, or would only buy one if I can do it for $20 (or even if you would be willing to pay an extra dollar or two which would go to charity).

In addition, please ask your friends or fellow club members who attended and who might be interested, but please don't just say "I think ten of my buddies would like one" without actually asking them. I'm not prepared to take a bath on this, and will only be placing an order if I have a reasonable certainty that I'm not going to get stuck with $500 worth of prints that nobody wants to pay for.

So, get to it. I eagerly await your responses - I'm as keen as you are to see this thing in print!

I am definitely interested (I have posted on miata.net as well).

As one of the "official" photographers of the event, I wish we had though of doing this picture. Great work jetkins!

I believe everything is in place, so let's get this puppy started! Head on over to http://www.snikte.net/mwii_poster.html for details, pricing options, and a PayPal Buy Button to place your order.

Thanks for your support, folks.

Last chance at this price

Postby jetkins on Tue Jul 07, 2009 9:42 am

Due to some technical difficulties, I did not get to submit the artwork to the lab yesterday as planned. I hope to be submitting it later today, so this is your last chance to place an order at the bulk-purchase price.

Shipping this weekend

Postby jetkins on Fri Jul 17, 2009 10:24 pm

I got the posters from the printer yesterday, and packaged them all up last night. Here's a crappy cellphone shot of the "work area". :)

I've spent all this evening doing battle with PayPal's stoopid Bulk Mailing system which refused to load all of your orders, so I've had to transcribe most of the mailing addresses by hand. If I get it working tonight, I'll get them to the post office tomorrow (Saturday), else it will be Monday. But either way, you all should receive them sometime next week. :)

I'll update here again once they've been mailed.

The posters were all mailed on Saturday. Those that ordered through PayPal (almost everyone) should have received an email with the USPS delivery confirmation number, and you should receive them this week.

In the end, I was able to save another couple of dollars per print due to the size of the order. I'm still waiting for the last couple of expenses to clear my PayPal account, but at this stage it looks like we raised a little over $500 for the charities.

Thanks again to everyone who ordered a print or generally supported the effort. In particular, thanks to Mike Preston (http://www.mprestondesign.com/) for his work in transforming the raw composite image into a terrific poster.

Cheers,
Jon.

I just wanted to say, the panoramic poster looks great!. I just ordered a custom frame for it. Once I get it mounted, I will post a picture.
